About the Department

Department started offering the first degree course in Nagapattinam with Major in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2018 and PG Department of Food Science and Nutrition started in 2020. Good food and nutrition vital to good health and wellbeing. Choosing the right food and kowtowing how much to have the healthy eating practices reduces the risk of diseases. The food and nutrition course can improve the nutritional status of populations. The curriculum explores the therapeutic diets in the treatment of chronic illnesses and other nutritional disorders. There is an opportunity to learn key nutrition assessment techniques and intervention strategies that will assist students in providing comprehensive health care to the patient.

The field of nutrition and dietetics is really growing in India right now! More and more people are becoming aware of how important healthy eating is for their well-being. This means there's a big demand for experts who can help people manage their health through food, whether it's in hospitals, fitness centres, or even through online consultations. Nutrition Course Eligibility
  • For the undergraduate program, admission is based on the candidate have completed their Higher Secondary Examination with Biology and Chemistry or an equivalent are qualification will be eligible for the B.Sc. course.
  • Candidates must have completed the B.Sc. course in science equivalent subjects are qualification to be eligible for the M.Sc. course
